Bichi Accused of allowing his wife to Lord over DSS,influencing Recruitment and Promotions, Says Jaafar Jaafer

Date: August 28, 2024

In a shocking revelation, investigative journalist Jaafar Jaafar has accused the former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, of allowing his wife, Aisha Bichi, to wield undue influence over the agency’s affairs during his tenure. According to Jaafar, Aisha Bichi allegedly exerted control over key aspects of the DSS, including recruitment, promotions, and disciplinary actions, effectively lording over the security agency.

Jaafar Jaafar, known for his bold investigative journalism, made these allegations through a detailed report that has stirred controversy and drawn widespread attention. He claims that the former DSS DG’s wife had an unusual level of influence over the agency’s operations, which extended to handpicking candidates for recruitment and influencing promotions and disciplinary actions, raising concerns about the integrity and independence of the DSS.

“The agency was virtually run by Mrs. Bichi, who overstepped her bounds and exerted undue influence over decisions that should have been the sole prerogative of the DSS leadership,” Jaafar stated. He further alleged that several key appointments and disciplinary decisions were influenced or directly dictated by her, undermining the agency’s merit-based system.

These claims have sparked outrage among stakeholders who fear that such interference could have compromised the operational effectiveness and neutrality of the DSS. Calls for an investigation into these allegations have been mounting, with many urging the current DSS leadership and the federal government to ensure accountability and safeguard the integrity of the nation’s security agencies.

Neither Yusuf Bichi nor his wife has responded to these allegations at the time of reporting. However, the DSS has not released an official statement on the matter, and it remains unclear whether there will be an internal investigation into these claims.

As the story unfolds, there is increasing pressure on the authorities to address these allegations transparently and ensure that the integrity of the DSS is upheld.
