Mayor of urhoboland urges military to take Asari’s Dokubo’s Threats seriously.calls for him to be made a scape goat

11th October 2024 – Warri, Delta State:

The Mayor of Urhoboland has issued a stern call to the Nigerian military, urging them to take the recent threats made by former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, with utmost seriousness. In a press briefing today, the Mayor expressed concerns over the volatile situation in the region, stressing the need for immediate and decisive action.

“Dokubo’s reckless threats pose a danger not only to the peace and stability of the Niger Delta but also to the unity of the entire nation,” the Mayor said. “The military must act swiftly to contain this menace. If left unchecked, his rhetoric could incite unrest.”

He further suggested that Asari Dokubo should be made an example, a “scapegoat” to deter future security threats. The Mayor emphasized the importance of preserving peace and called on the government to remain vigilant in protecting the interests of the Urhobo people and other ethnic groups in the Niger Delta.

“As the leader of this region, I cannot sit back and watch the peace we have fought so hard for crumble. Asari Dokubo must be held accountable for his actions,” he declared.

The Mayor’s call has resonated with various local leaders and security experts, who believe that stronger enforcement of law and order is crucial to maintaining peace in the region, which has been historically plagued by militancy and unrest.

The military is yet to officially respond to the Mayor’s statement, but sources suggest high-level meetings are already underway to assess the situation.
